The collection includes correspondence and subject files relating to Pleasant's term of service on the Bloomington City Council (1968-1972), and correspondence, committee and issues files, clippings, political literature, photographs, and other papers relating to Pleasant's campaigns for city council (1968) and the Minnesota Legislature (1972-1978).

Legislative files include constituent and other correspondence (1973-1980), the campaign for the vote for Washington, D.C. citizens, and the Metropolitan Stadium (1979). There are news releases, newspaper clippings, radio and TV scripts, questionnaires, and copies of bills he introduced. The collection also includes speech transcripts, appointment books, and campaign finance information.
