Writing files consist of texts, notes, and drafts of
his books, poetry, essays, articles, and other miscellaneous writings and papers.
Correspondence regarding publishing, family history, and other topics is also
present. Biographical information on Eugene McCarthy and his daughter Mary Abigail
McCarthy is included, along with papers (including photographs, correspondence)
related to a McCarthy family reunion (1988).
