BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Gordon Christian Krantz, son of Claus and Christine (Mickelson) Krantz, was born May 13, 1924, in Red Wing, Minnesota, and grew up there. In July 1943, he entered military service and became a Light Pontoon Engineer with the 537th Engineers Company. He served in France, Luxembourg, and Germany, and was demobilized in January 1946. He attended Bethel College and the University of Minnesota, graduating with degrees in psychology.
He worked as a psychologist and vocational rehabilitation specialist for the Minnesota Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (1950-1957), Opportunity Workshop, Inc. (1958-1962), Minneapolis Public Schools Rehabilitation Center (1962-1966), Cooperative School Rehabilitation Center (Glen Lake and Eden Prairie) (1966-1974), the University of Minnesota (1974-1980), and the Minnesota Department of Public Welfare (1980-1985). During his retirement he was associated with Lifease, Inc., a program that designed adaptive products for the elderly.
