Expand/CollapseHISTORICAL NOTE

In 1885 Swedish settlers in northern St. Paul began mission work for what would later become First Covenant Church. In 1889 a church building was acquired on Burgess Street and termed the Little Mission House. Later that year the building was moved to a lot on Woodbridge and Milford streets and given the name Elim Chapel. In 1912 two lots on Como Avenue were purchased and a building erected in 1913. In November 1914 the congregation decided to incorporate as a separate congregation, thereby discontinuing its relationship with its mother congregation. The congregation became part of the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church of America. Services continued until 2004 when declining membership forced Elim Covenant Church to dissolve.
