Henry Hyman Straw was born 19 February 1834 in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. In 1855 he migrated to Saratoga Township, Winona County, Minnesota Territory, and pre-empted land and farmed there. He married Jane Rosamond Ingalls in Saratoga on 29 December 1857. Jane was born 1 March 1841 in Erie County, New York. Straw died in Saratoga Township, 9 July 1927. Jane died 21 April 1925, also in Saratoga Township.

An unpublished typed manuscript by Thomas E. Straw containing historical and genealogical data on these families, who lived primarily in Winona, Becker, Ramsey, Redwood, Cottonwood, Watonwan, and Pipestone counties.
Copying or publishing from A Book of Grandparents is reserved for the descendants of those parents and grandparents who are included in the manuscript.
H. H. Straw diaries, 1868, 1870-1872, 1878. 3 folders.
Diaries contain brief daily entries commenting on the weather, activities during the day, family events, and (rarely) national events.
H. H. Straw account book, March 1875-March 1, 1877.
Contains income and expense record, with occasional comments on breeding of farm animals, wheat sold, and employees hired.
Equity Grange minute book, January 1876-February 1880.
Minutes of a local grange, headquartered in Troy, Winona County, mentioning activities of the Grange, including affairs of its library committee, approval of new members and dismissal of members, election of officers, and financial data, including members’ dues. H. H. Straw was secretary of the chapter for part of this time.
