Abstract: | Biographical information, correspondence, and financial papers of a prominent Benson, Swift County (Minn.) attorney, businessman, and banker who was active in city and county political and civic affairs and was a leader in the development of west central Minnesota. Sanford Hudson's papers relate primarily to his business, urban and rural real estate, banking interests, and investments in Minnesota and other states. There is also some correspondence pertaining to legal cases and family financial matters. Includes papers of Irving M. Hudson, the son of Sanford and Lorena McLaren Hudson. | |

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
SANFORD H. HUDSON
Sanford Henry Hudson was born November 27, 1857 in Janesville, Wisconsin. He studied law under his father Judge Sanford A. Hudson, being admitted to the bar in 1879. He arrived in Benson, Minnesota in 1880 where he developed extensive real estate holdings, held numerous local government positions, and was involved in the operations of the Swift County State Bank and the Metropolitan National Bank of Minneapolis. He died at St. Helena, California on January 19, 1935. He was married to Lorena McLaren.

IRVING M. HUDSON
Irving M. Hudson was born December 27, 1884 in Benson, Minnesota, the son of Sanford H. and Lorena McLaren Hudson. He received his law degree in 1909 and joined his father under the name of Hudson & Hudson. He married Margeret Denfeld of Duluth in 1911. He died in Pasedena, California on June 23, 1965.
