P694Volume 1. Battle of Birch Coulée: personal recollections and remarks, 1925?, 1927. 72 pages: holograph + 1 letter.
Originally given to Edward Chenery Gale by Boyd, includes Boyd's transmittal letter to Gale, February 11, 1927. Maps tipped in on pages 37 and 49.
Volume 2. Birch Coulée: some highlights on the history of this battle with the Indians, story and picture of Mrs. Krueger the wounded woman, ground plan of the corral where men were killed and wounded, saved by a miracle, the sound of musketry heard at Fort Ridgley 14 miles away, November 1925. 27 pages: holograph.
"Maps tipped in on pages 25 and 27. Includes a photograph of Justina Meyer (Mrs. Krueger), circa 1900, page 3; and a news clipping from a September 1900 St. Paul newspaper reciting an account given by Meyer's son John Lehn (Lane), pages 5-6.
Although Boyd consistently spells the name of the wounded woman as "Krueger" throughout his papers, the same name is variantly spelled as "Krieger" or "Kreiger" in accounts by others."
Volume 3. Birch Coulée: articles written by Robert K. Boyd, published in 1926 in the "Morton Enterprise" containing some items of history not heretofore published, September 13, 1926. 19 pages: holograph.
Includes a note and map explaining how Boyd marked the location of wagons, tents, and horses on May 30 and September 2, 1926.

Printed address originally given to Frank Hopkins by Boyd. Includes Boyd's letter to Hopkins, February 15, 1927. The volume includes Boyd's annotations providing added footnotes as well as manuscript maps tipped in on front cover and on pages 13 and 15; a 33-page handwritten supplement, Battle of Birch Coulee: some personal recollections and experiences, and a record of small events and conditions now shown in written history, also, some criticisms, sewn onto back cover; and a news clipping, "Hon. J.J. Egan's version of the Battle of Birch Cooley," Morton Enterprise, February 24, 1927, tipped in on back cover.

A more complete map heavily annotated by Boyd showing the location of wagons, tents, horses, attacks, and relief troops as well as his own positions throughout the battle. The map's accuracy was affirmed in an undated note card left by R.F. Kennedy when the map was displayed at the Minnesota Historical Society museum.
