Expand/CollapseBIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Caroline Marshall was born in 1943 and lived most of her life in Minnesota. She attended Abbot (later Andover) Academy and Vassar College. She worked as a journalist and as a funding and public relations consultant; taught in the Minnesota Writers-in-the-Schools program; co-founded and performed with the Minnesota Poetry Outloud tour troupe; and was vice president of Maysack and Marshall/Organizational Counsel, inc., of Minneapolis.

Minnesota Poetry Outloud was a troupe of writers, poets, and musicians who visited parks, rest homes, libraries, and other venues reading their own and others' stories and poems, making music, and telling stories in order to spread an appreciation of serious literature.

Women Poets of the Twin Cities was a group of women who met, read poems, and offered each other criticism, advice, and support. Membership was open to any woman who wrote poems.
