HISTORICAL NOTE
The Minneapolis League of Catholic Women, informally known as the League of Catholic Women, was organized in 1911 by a group of Roman Catholic laywomen to meet the needs of single women working in downtown Minneapolis. Among its early benefactors were Isabel MacDonald Donaldson and Elizabeth Quinlan. Its service area evolved to include the entire metropolitan area. Its services have included numerous residential programs, including St. Mary's Hall, the Margaret Barry House, St. Joseph's Home, and Pathway Group Home, and hospitality and support programs for youth, immigrants, and those requiring extra assistance. It supported the Junior Catholic League for many years.
