HISTORICAL NOTE
The Homeseekers Land Company was organized in 1910 at Chippewa Falls by William Irvine, E.L. Ainsworth, and Samuel B. Nimmons to manage and sell lands relinquished by lumber companies operating in Wisconsin.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS
The records discuss the organization of the company, negotiations (1895-1910) of Frederick Weyerhaeuser and Harrison J. McKusick of the Superior Timber Company about mortgage releases, sales of cutover lands, mineral negotiations, land taxation, the sale of logs, and leaving fishways in the dams across logging streams. There is also data on land titles, taxation, land sales, mineral reservation, commissions, and colonization proposals. The records also contain data on, or records of, the American Immigration Company, the Superior Timber Company, the David Tozer Company, the St. Croix Boom Corporation, and other related organizations.
