The company was organized to "buy, sell, own, lease, and deal in lands, pine
stumpage, logs, and other property, to manufacture, buy, sell, handle, and deal in
lumber; to clear, improve, and dam streams; build, maintain and operate railways for
logging and other purposes; and to drive sluice and convey logs...." The first
headquarters of the operations were in Northern Minnesota. Among the officers and
directors were William H. Laird, Fred S. Bell, Frederick Weyerhaeuser, and Charles
Weyerhaeuser. The company was consolidated in 1925 with the Mississippi Lumber
Company.
