Expand/CollapseARRANGEMENT

The papers have been kept, for the most part, in the same arrangement as they were when they were turned over to the Historical Society. Deeds and correspondence relating to a certain individual or tract of land have been filed together, the earliest dated document being first in the document group. Each group has been filed chronologically, according to the earliest date of the document group. If a great deal of correspondence was carried on over a certain contract or deed, separate folders were made, and these folders were filed chronologically, according to the earliest date. Because transactions of this kind were carried on, at times, over a period of years, there is overlapping of dates in the boxes. The description that follows will include an inventory of material found in each box, as well as documents of interest in the box, so as to facilitate research.
