Includes fourteen diaries on microfilm kept by Nimrod Barrick while farming near Greenleaf, Meeker County (Minn.), that mention family affairs, social life, a grasshopper plague (1877), Barrick's activities as a member of town and school boards, prices, wages, weather, and trips to Dakota (1883) and Oregon (1893); some entries were made by Julia Barrick.

Nimrod BarrickNimrod Barrick was born September 20, 1851 to Alpheus and Minerval Barrick in Cedar County, Iowa. He married Julia Ann Kennedy, a daughter of Dr. Vincent P. Kennedy, in Meeker County, Minnesota on October 9, 1873. The coupled lived and farmed in Meeker County with their children, Roscoe, Vincent, Nimrod, and Julian. Nimrod Barrick died November 24, 1939, and Julia died May 2, 1942.

Vincent Pellet Kennedy was born July 11, 1824, in Butler County, Pennsylvania. He served as an assistant surgeon with the 5th Minnesota Infantry Regiment during the Civil War, mustering in on the 3rd of September 1862 and mustering out on the 1st of May 1865. Kennedy married his first wife, Julia Ann Rudisil, in 1849. Their daughter Julia Ann was born in 1854 in Clay County, Indiana where the couple was living at the time. After the death of her mother, Julia Ann, Julia lived in Putnam County, Indiana with an uncle Rudisil. Vincent Kennedy died February 8, 1903 at Litchfield, Minnesota.
