Burnett J. Bergeson, son of Lauritz and Lena (Risdahl) Bergeson, was born March 25, 1915, in Hammer Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. His family subsequently moved to Twin Valley, Minnesota. In 1936 he graduated from the University of Minnesota, Northwest School of Agriculture at Crookston. Bergeson worked for the Farm Security Administration and engaged in grain farming and raising turkeys. He served as president of the Norman County Farmers Union. In 1942 he married Adeline Juntenen. In 1954 Bergeson was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives from District 64, representing Norman and Mahnomen counties in the 59th-62nd sessions (1955-1962). He was a member of Liberal caucus, and served on the Agriculture and Cooperatives and Marketing committees. Bergeson retired from farming in 1977, and died in Reno, Nevada on February 2, 2011.
