Ralph O. AljetsRalph Offer Aljets was born in Iowa in 1911 to John Offer and Alvira Lydia Aljets and spent his childhood in Minnesota. The family of thirteen briefly moved to South Dakota in the 1930s but were back in Washington County, Minnesota by 1942, where they farmed near Hugo.

Ralph was drafted into the army in July 1942. He was killed in action while serving as a private first class in the 299th Engineers Combat Battalion, Company C when they landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France the morning of June 6, 1944. He is buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Two of Ralph's brothers, John, Jr. and Frank, also served in World War II and his brother Lawrence served in the Korean War. Only Ralph lost his life.
