Files relating to a variety of Democratic Party, patronage, campaign, and miscellaneous political activities, some emanating from Humphrey's office and some gathered by his staff from other sources. The files appear to be largely those of staff members Eiler Ravnholt, Ronald F. Stinnett, and Bill Connell, with some kept by John G. Stewart, Ted Van Dyk, William Welsh, and others.

There are a few correspondence and miscellaneous files from Humphrey's 1964 senatorial campaign; files on potential presidential candidates (1966); and 1968 campaign miscellany. Files of correspondence and miscellany by state, largely documenting Humphrey's politically related contacts, are present for the years 1964-1965 and 1966 (focusing on that year's elections). There are patronage files for 1965-1968.

Subject and coded files for 1964-1965, 1966, and 1967-1968 include information on elections and election campaigns in general, the Humphrey office's inter-campaign political activities and strategy planning, fund-raising, public opinion polls, the Democratic National Committee, various constituent or special groups (e.g., labor, lawyers, minorities, nationality groups), voter registration, Young Democrats and other youth organizations, the Republican Party, extremist and fringe groups, and related topics. Two large subsets (1964-1966, 1967- 1968) concern Democratic Party activities by state, supplemented by general and miscellaneous files.
