Expand/CollapseBIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Chris Osgood graduated from Hampshire College with a Bachelor of Arts in music composition in 1975. Shortly after, Osgood returned to Minnesota, and co-founded the band The Suicide Commandos in Minneapolis with himself as guitarist, Steve Almaas as bassist, and Dave Ahl as drummer. The band produced two albums in its short history (1975-1980), but helped establish a punk and alternative rock music scene in Minneapolis, influencing other bands, such as the Suburbs, the Replacements, Hüsker Dü, and Soul Asylum.

Post band, Chris Osgood taught guitar. He also served as the Director of Artist Services at the Resources and Counseling for the Arts and its successor Springboard for the Arts in St. Paul from 1990 to 2008, providing business and planning workshops for artists. Osgood later served as Vice President of Community Relations at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul from 2008 to 2017.

Outside of music education and artist organization roles, Osgood founded Vins de Campagne in 1995, a French wine import business. He also reunited with The Suicide Commandos in 2007, remaining active with the band throughout the late 2000s and 2010s.
