Membership is honorary and is based upon peer recognition.

The national organization (Grand Chapter), Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Incorporated, is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. The state organization is known as Minnesota Alpha Delta Kappa. In 1986 there were 39 local chapters located throughout the state.

The Minnesota Alpha Chapter, Minnesota's first chapter, was organized at Saint Paul on August 20, 1952. The Minnesota Theta Chapter, also of Saint Paul, was organized in 1958, and merged into the Minnesota Alpha Chapter around 2000.
