The Work Projects Administration (WPA) was a New Deal program established by the Franklin Roosevelt Administration in May 1935 as the Works Progress Administration. The name was changed to Work Projects Administration in 1939. Among other endeavors, the program employed unemployed men in public works projects. The WPA was dissolved in June 1943.
