Expand/CollapseHISTORICAL NOTE

The Friends of Sibley Historic Site was organized in 1991 as a nonprofit membership organization to advance and promote the Sibley Historic Site and assist the State of Minnesota in preserving its assets. When founded, the Sibley Historic Site was owned and managed by the Sibley Historic Association, an affiliate organization of the Minnesota Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Nancy Moses, a state regent, helped develop and organize the group to bolster fundraising for revitalization and preservation of the site. The management of the site was transferred to the Minnesota Historical Society in 1996 and the Sibley Historic Association dissolved in 2003, but the Friends organization continued as a partner. The Sibley Historic Site encompasses three historic houses: the Sibley House, the Faribault House, and the Dupuis House.
