Expand/CollapseBIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

William C. King (1857-1924) and his sister were born to parents James King and Ellen Clancy. Ellen remarried Fred Lindquist following the death of James King in 1859. In 1871, the blended King and Lindquist family relocated to Belfast Township in Murray County, Minnesota. In the mid 1870s, William C. King homesteaded on a property located near the Des Moines River in Belfast Township, near Dundee, Minnesota.

Lilian Van Buskirk (1862-1904) and her five siblings were born to parents Angelette Case and John Orville Van Buskirk. The Van Buskirk family settled on a farm in Cottonwood County, Southbrook Township, Minnesota in the early 1870s, but later moved to Havensville, Kansas.

Lillian Van Buskirk returned to Minnesota with her marriage to William C. King. They were married on February 8, 1882, and they settled on William King's established homestead. Together they had three children: Carrie Alice (1883-1976), Gertrude (Gertie) May, and a son who died a few months after birth in 1901.

Carrie Alice King married Henry Olson on October 25, 1904. The couple had four children: Twylah, Gleva, Yerle, and Clancy, and settled in Cottonwood County, Minnesota. Her sister Gertrude May King married Bill Brandon at an unknown date and they had five children together: Bonnie, John, Britt, Duane, and Marie.
