HISTORICAL NOTE
The Minnesota Quarter Horse Racing Association was formed around 1971 and is affiliated with the Quarter Racing Owners of America. The Association held its first race meet at the Wadena County Fairgrounds in 1973.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS
Bylaws ([ca. 1973]); minutes (1973-1977, 1983-1984); newsletters (1973-1974, 1976); files pertaining to Minnesota Citizens for Racing (1969-1974) and efforts by both associations to secure legislation allowing pari-mutuel racing in Minnesota (1969-1974, 1981-1984); and files regarding racing meets held by the Association at the county fairgrounds in Wadena and Lake Elmo (1973-1986).
Files pertaining to the racing meets include correspondence, track contracts, budget estimates, accounting information, conditions books, local hospitality books, sponsor books, daily racing charts, entry blanks, and photographs.
