Expand/CollapseHISTORICAL NOTE

The League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions was founded in 1971 and was reorganized in 1987. The league is a private, non-governmental organization. It operates in coalition with local human rights commissions, which were established by charter or ordinance in communities throughout Minnesota. The league uses the Minnesota Human Rights Law (MS c. 363) as a guide. The goals of the league are to assist in the development of new human rights commissions; to gather and circulate news on human rights issues; to develop educational materials about human rights issues; and to conduct workshops and conferences to assist and inform others. The services of the league include training programs, conferences, proposed legislation, and recognition and awards.
