Correspondence and minutes contain data on the union's formation, internal affairs, assessments and benefits, social functions, organizing activities, relations with other local and national unions, and political participation.

There is also information on St. Paul labor issues, hiring practices, boycotts, strikes, and employers' attitudes toward unions. Present also are minutes (1914-1923) of Millmen's Local Number 1868, which affiliated with the carpenters in 1923.
