Includes correspondence, maps, newspaper articles, lake level books, appraisals, petitions, contracts, receipts, viewers’ reports, photographs, budget reports, purchase lists, telegrams, and memoranda. There are also materials created under its predecessors, the Drainage Commission of the State of Minnesota (1901-1919) and the Department of Drainage and Waters (1919-1931), and its successor, the Natural Resources Department (post-1971).

The files form part of the records of the Minnesota Department of Conservation.
