SCOPE AND CONTENTS
The files contain information on private trade schools, veterans training, teacher education, work-study, and the individual agriculture, business, distributive education, home economics, technical education, industrial arts, health occupations, trade and industry programs, accreditation, participation in a national study of vocational education, and youth employment and training. They also document the office's relationship with the State Board of Vocational Educaiton, the State Advisory Committee for Vocational Education (and its predecessor, the State Advisory Council for Vocational Education), the governor's office, HIRE (Helping Industry Recruit Exoffenders), LEAP (Loaned Executives Action Program), the National Advisory Council on Vocational Education, the research and development committee for vocational education, and the research coordinating unit for vocational education.
The files also include an alphabetical set of files containing individual school districts' requests for funds to support their vocational education programs (1950s-1970s); a number of background reports both produced by and used by the office, including the annual state plan for vocational education (1969-1974), reports of the state's vocational technical schools (1963-1964, 1967-1968), and on enrollment and post-enrollment statistics, numbers of teachers and administrators in vocational education, and the status of teacher training and work-study in vocational education (1966-1967); and Van Tries' speeches (1973-1979).
