STILLWATER STATE PRISON:

The register sheets--originally looseleaf sheets, but now bound--took the place of the convict record beginning with inmate number 5,033 in September, 1915. The entries for the inmates in prison at that time were transferred to the register sheets, and the early register sheets therefore contain information predating their creation. Due to this transfer there are gaps in the inmate numbers in the first volume. It seems to have taken about a year to transfer all of the entries from the convict record to the registration sheets, so inmates discharged in late 1915 or any time in 1916 may not appear in the register sheets. The volumes of registers sheets are not numbered.

The paper registering system was discontinued in 1978.
