RICE COUNTY: ASSESSOR:

Each entry gives the owner's name; school district number; type of property (household, homestead, agricultural, business); and the property's total full, assessed, and equalized valuations. The real property sections additionally give the legal description (location) and size of the property; and the values of acreage or lots, structures and improvements, machinery, and other items, including (beginning in 1940) homesteads and non-homesteads. The personal property sections additionally give the post office address and the quantity and/or valuation of various categories of personal property, including household goods and furnishings; personal possessions; vehicles; agricultural products, animals, and machinery; manufacturing, lumbering, and business products and property; financial assets; and privately owned structures on railway and government lands.

Each entry in the tax list portion of the records for 1858-1859 gives the amounts of state, local, school, and road taxes; the total amount of taxes to be collected; and a record of payment.

For some years there may be lists of mortgages and other real estate securities; and data on tree bounty, real property exempt from taxation, lands taken under the Homestead and Tree Claim acts, and grain handled by elevators, warehouses, and mills.
