Topics for which the files are particularly extensive include environment, fisheries and wildlife management, wild and scenic rivers, legislation, state lands and forestry, parks and recreation, copper-nickel, personnel, financial management, and citizen participation.
There are also reading files of Assistant Commissioner Archie D. Chelseth and files documenting the department's relations with the Upper Great Lakes Regional Commission, Legislative Advisory Commission, Governor's Office, Minnesota Wisconsin Boundary Area Commission, Environmental Quality Council, Environmental Quality Board, Heritage Conservation and Recreation Service, and Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources.
