The records include burial record (1881-1924), autopsy record (1895-1903), death registers (1913-1923, 1951-1996), record of death report stubs (1920-1936), death summaries (1955-1958), and cemetery plats (pre-1923, 1923, 1951). The latter show the location of each grave and name of deceased (presumably through July 1, 1982).

Autopsy record (report of post-mortems), 1895-1903. 1 volume.
Arranged chronologically.
Includes name, date performed, doctor, diagnosis, and report.
Death register, 1913-1923.
Arranged alphabetically.
Information includes name, name of physician, hour of death, name of informant, duration (and sometimes type) of illness, date of death, receipt (signature) of undertaker (or, 1921-1922, disposition of remains).

Arranged chronologically; 20 stubs per booklet.
Stubs were retained at Faribault for death reports submitted to the Minnesota Division of Vital Statistics. Information includes place of death, name of deceased, date of birth, age, sex, color, marital status, birthplace, father's and mother's names and birthplaces, date of death, chief cause of death, name of medical attendant, place of burial, name of undertaker, and name of person issuing burial permit.

For residents who died at the institution. Information includes name, case file number, admitting/final diagnoses, summary of case and discussion, and cause of death.
