AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT:

The photographs document awards ceremonies; proclamations signed by Governors Harold LeVander, Wendell Anderson, and Rudy Perpich; inspections of dairy plants, farms and tree nurseries; beef, dairy, and potato farmers; wild rice and maple syrup harvesting; beehives; displays done by the department for various expos and conventions; department staff; marketing campaigns; numerous State Fair activities; and other related activities of the Department of Agriculture. Richard Tretsven worked for the Department of Agriculture as a photographer from the 1950s until the 1980s and documented numerous events that the department participated in during this time span.

Arranged in separate alphabetical series by subject matter. Includes both prints and negatives, many of which do not duplicate each other. The photographs are mostly black and white, 4 in. x 5 in. prints and negatives housed in 313 envelopes, sometimes including multiple items per envelope.
