HISTORICAL NOTE
The Plumbing Code and Examinations Advisory Council was created in the 1975 session of the Minnesota Legislature as a seven member council to be appointed by the Commissioner of Health for four year terms. The council made recommendations to the commissioner regarding examining and licensing of plumbers, recommended revisions to the plumbing code, and reviewed new materials and methods. The membership of the council consisted of one practical master plumber, one practical journeyman plumber, one representative of the Commissioner of Health and four other members. As of 1997 the council consisted of 9 members including journeymen plumbers to represent the metro area and greater Minnesota, master plumbers to represent the metro area and greater Minnesota, and one representative of the Commissioner of Health. In 2007 the responsibilities of the Commissioner of Health relating to the state plumbing code and licensing and water conditioning contractors and installers were transfered to the newly created Plumbing Board.
