Abstract:Administrative minutes of the Board of Control, which usually met several times per month and often more than once a week. They are of a transactional nature and contain little narrative discussion of board conversations or decisions.

Expand/CollapseSCOPE AND CONTENTS

The minutes record such matters as bids and contracts for construction of buildings at state institutions and schools; bonding and salaries of officers and employees of state institutions; reimbursements for out-of-state travel to conferences or for other state business; reports of deaths and accidents (number per month) at various state institutions; admissions, paroles, discharges, and transfers of patients or inmates; resignations, appointments, and leaves of absence of personnel; and monetary aid allowances, especially from the Solder Welfare Fund. Also included are mentions of jails (lock-ups) being condemned for poor conditions; securing loans and setting prices for the prison industries at Stillwater State Prison; fuel (coal) contracts for various institutions, types of surgeries performed at state hospitals, and marriages granted.

Volume A is handwritten. Volumes B-J contain typed minutes with the signature of the Board's secretary.
