Anoka Disaster Committee records, 1939-1940.
Records on disaster relief after a tornado that passed through Anoka County on June 18, 1939. A committee was formed the evening after the tornado, comprising the county attorney, the mayor and city attorney of the city of Anoka, and eleven residents of stricken areas. The county received relief funds from the State Relief Agency, and the Welfare Board was designated their distributor. Records include committee minutes (scattered), correspondence, a report to Governor Stassen detailing the damage, and a list of tornado victims noting addresses, number in household, degree of loss (total/partial), and estimated dollar amount of loss.
