HISTORICAL NOTE
The West Metro Education Program (Joint Powers School District No. 6069) was organized in 1989, and dissolved in June 2018. It was a voluntary consortium of eleven urban and suburban school districts in the Minneapolis metropolitan area to cooperatively address integration and specialty education issues in the western metropolitan area. Member school districts included Brooklyn Center, Columbia Heights, Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins, Minneapolis, Richfield, Robbinsdale, St. Anthony-New Brighton, St. Louis Park, and Wayzata. According to its mission statement, it was an equity-focused collaborative for student success and educator growth, and offered professional development, equity leadership, and student programs to build capacity in the region.
