| Included in the back of the register is the text (dated 1916) for a petition by Dora Township residents opposing the "Indian Lid". Apparently, it concerns the limit (or lid) on the sale of alcoholic beverages to Native Americans in northern Minnesota in accordance with the Treaty of 1855. Essentially, the township no longer wanted to be in a "dry" part of the county, but wanted to be "wet", and petitioned the U.S. Congress for action. | |||||||||||
