	Abstract:	Reports, correspondence, statistical and financial data, research and background materials, and related documentation of a program, administered by the state Department of Agriculture, that focused on providing funds and technical assistance to local units of government to combat Dutch elm disease and oak wilt disease. The program was established in 1974 pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 18.023, and was terminated effective June 30, 1982.

The records include a program history (1982) and manual (1977); annual reports to the legislature; correspondence, minutes, and proposals of the Minnesota State Shade Tree Advisory Committee; files of general, public information, and legislative correspondence; audio recordings of shade tree program radio announcements; budget materials; research articles and reports, particularly on Dutch elm disease; files on sanitation (i.e., tree disposal) and reforestation grants to local units of government, and on local tree disease control programs; tree inspector training materials; files on efforts to develop ways of utilizing dead elmwood; files on a special governor's statewide elm cleanup program; data on Arbor Day and Arbor Month celebrations; and a variety of related subject and background materials.

The original audio reels were disposed after the material was digitally reformatted into wav files.
