SCOPE AND CONTENTS
The majority of the files pertain to copper-nickel and taconite iron ore mining leases and primarily document the process of bidding and awarding leasing rights, although some files pertain to lease arrangements with specific corporations. They include detailed reports to the Executive Council on proposed taconite mining leases and the state's rights and interests therein (1964-1975), and several copper-nickel "unit books" that list all lands potentially subject to lease (1968-1973).
Other files pertain to property lease arrangements made on behalf of various state agencies, particularly the Duluth Seaway Port Authority.
