The technical assistance project files include correspondence, feasibility studies, and applications for federal assistance by government units and private corporations. Projects included plans for historical museums, sewage facilities, industrial parks, and general industrial and community development.

The subject and correspondence files cover the programs and activities of the ARA and other programs and organizations with which it was involved, including the Highway Department, Iron Range Rehabilitation Commission, North Star Research and Development Institute, Northern Great Lakes Resource Development Committee, and Small Business Administration. There are also files dealing with budget, Indian affairs, legislation, military procurement, speeches, Business Development Department Commissioner William B. Farrell, Hubert H. Humphrey, Attorney General Walter F. Mondale, Special Assistant Attorney General Robert S. Nickoloff, and ARA Duluth Area Coordinator Kaarlo J. Otava.
