| Abstract: | Correspondence and subject files kept by O'Donnell during his tenure as Executive Secretary (June 1971-October 1973). The correspondence files mainly contain departmental memos and out-going letters covering such topics as office procedures, budget, legislation, travel, bank applications, notary public and real estate licensing, a Commerce Department reorganization, interagency meetings, charitable registrations, the Securities Division, an intern program, the Governor's Council on Consumer Affairs, and the Governor's Advisory Committee on Securities. There is also a file of miscellaneous correspondence which includes numerous letters with the Governor's Office. | |

SCOPE AND CONTENTS
The subject files contain correspondence, reports, minutes, agendas, directives, and related materials documenting a bank examiners' spring conference in St. Paul (June 1973), the duties of the Executive Secretary (1971-1972), the Governor's Credit Union Advisory Council (1973), the Governor's Department Head Seminar at Arrowwood Lodge in Alexandria (October 1971), the Loaned Executives Action Program (LEAP) Governmental Advisory Committee (1968-1972), and departmental remodeling and moves (1971-1973). There is also a file of the newsletter "The Grapevine," first as an organ of the Banking Division (December 1972-March 1973), then of the entire department (March-October 1973).
ARRANGEMENT
Divided into two subseries: chronological correspondence files (1971-1973) and alphabetical subject files (1968-1973). The correspondence is numbered sequentially and divided into three sections, each with its own index: June-December 1971, December 1971-January 1973, February-October 1973.
OTHER FINDING AIDS
Three indexes to the correspondence are included in the files. Each is arranged alphabetically by correspondent name and includes each letter's or memo's number.
ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION
Access Restrictions:
Records in the February-October 1973 correspondence files include private and financial information about individuals that may include date of birth, social security number and assets. Records with private information are closed for 75 years from date of last entry in the record. Records less than 75 years must be inspected by library staff to prevent inappropriate disclosure of confidential information. Please consult library staff for more information.
