SCOPE AND CONTENTS
Much is directed to Minnesota GAR posts, and concerns clerical discrepancies on their adjutant and quartermaster reports. Other letters discuss muster fees, charter fees, transfer and suspension of members, per capita taxes, and suggestions on naming of posts and welcoming of new members. Letters concerning fund-raising for the U. S. Grant Monument Fund and arrangements for visits to posts by state GAR officials also appear.
These letterpress books were originally cataloged as part of a manuscripts collection of GAR records. The volume numbers assigned to them under that collection have been retained.
The following list of the Assistant Adjutant Generals and Minnesota Department Commanders has been gleaned from the volumes. Dates correspond to letters found in the volumes and should not be regarded as completely accurate concerning span dates of terms of office.
