SCOPE AND CONTENTS
The committees include its Citizens Advisory Committee; Advisory Committee on Groundwater Protection; Power Plant Siting Advisory Committee; science advisers appointed to study and report on health and safety aspects of high voltage direct current transmission lines (1981-1982); a technical committee that advised on a broad range of environmental review issues; and a technical review committee concerned specifically with the high voltage powerline operated by United Power Association and Cooperative Power Association in west central Minnesota.
Also included are records of the Minnesota Sustainable Development Initiative (1991-1994), charged with finding ways to develop the economy while protecting the environment.

Governor Carlson and the EQB established this board that would find ways to develop the economy while protecting the environment. By sustainable development they meant replacing the sometimes adversarial relationships between the business and regulatory communities with new working relationships. Recommendations of this board in the areas of agriculture, forestry, minerals, energy, manufacturing, recreation, and settlement were presented and debated at the Minnesota Environmental Congress in 1994. | |||||||||||
