ETHICAL PRACTICES BOARD:

An Inventory of Its Socialist Workers Party Files at the Minnesota Historical Society

Government Records

Expand/CollapseOVERVIEW

Creator: Minnesota. State Ethical Practices Board.
Title:Socialist Workers Party Files.
Dates:1974-1991.
Language:Materials in English.
Abstract:Files dealing with the Socialist Workers Party partial exemption from the campaign finance disclosure statements required under Minnesota law [Laws 1974 c470 sec20]. Citing a subdivision which exempted any association or any of its member or contributors from the requirement if disclosure would expose any or all of them to economic reprisals, loss of employment, or threat of physical coercion, the SWP was allowed to list all individual contributors or lenders and endorsers by a number instead of a name on records filed with the state. Included in the records are applications, hearing transcripts, exhibits, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and the board's rulings. The 1978 files also document a challenge to the board's decision to grant the exemption.
Quantity:0.75 cubic feet (1 box).
Location: See Detailed Description for shelf locations.
