HISTORICAL NOTE
The Gambling Control Board was established by the legislature in 1984 as the Charitable Gambling Control Board [Laws 1984 c502 art12]. Its name was changed to the Gambling Control Board in 1989 [Laws 1989 c334 art2]. During the 1990s, it was also often referred to as the Lawful Gambling Control Board.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS
The records include annual reports (1986-2007), a history of gambling in Minnesota (2005), minutes and agenda packets (1984-2020), rules proceedings files (1984-1998), manuals (1990-2008), and published records and reports (1985-2008). Topics covered include bingo, licensing, illegal gambling, paddlewheels, pull-tabs, gambling managers, and the economic effect of a statewide smoking ban on charitable gambling. A complete run of the board’s newsletter, Gaming News, is also included.
