Also a series of oral history interviews with Governor Quie and members of his staff.

The videotapes include coverage of Quie's 1979 inaugural address and a speech at Hamline University's 150th anniversary celebration (1979), an interview concerning the 1980 U. S. presidential election, highlights from the 1982 Midwest Governors' Conference, a Meet the Governor presentation (1979), and a guest appearance on a 1981 Duluth news program. There are also two "Reports to the People" (1980) and public service announcements for highway safety (1979), Indochinese refugee support (1979), the Independent Republican Party (1981), and 1982 governor's forums on crime, housing, mental health, soil conservation, and education. The audio tapes include a February 1980 press conference, while the cassette recordings include remarks by Quie and others at special events.

The photograph albums cover the 1979 and 1980 National Governors' conferences, the 1980 Republican Governors Convention, and the 1980 and 1981 Midwest Governors' conferences. The loose photographs, negatives, and slides include a number of portraits of Governor Quie, Gretchen Quie, and Lieutenant Governor Lou Wangberg, including their "official" portraits and swearing-in ceremonies photographs; numerous publicity shots covering milk promotion, awards dinners and groundbreaking celebrations, and tours; Republican Party activities, with U. S. Senators Dave Durenberger and Rudy Boschwitz, Texas Governor George Bush, and U. S. Representatives Vin Weber and Tom Hagedorn; and the 1980 swearing-in of Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Douglas K. Amdahl.

The oral history interviews (audio cassette tapes and transcripts) cover various aspects of the governorship and were conducted mainly following Quie’s departure from office. Others interviewed were staff member Ester Allen, Commissioner of Finance Wayne Burgraff, Executive Assistant Jean LeVander King, State Economist Hal Lofgren, First Lady Gretchen Quie, Representative Rod Searle, Lieutenant Governor Lou Wangberg, and assorted other staff members.

Governor and Gretchen Quie encouraging citizens of Minnesota to support an Indochinese refugee family. Two 30 second color spots: “It’s good to be home…” and “Back in the 1890’s…” Beta FP videotape. Recorded on August 24, 1979.

Republic of China-United States [ROC-US] Trade and Investment Forum, September 3-8, 1979.

Highlights the activities at the ROC-US Trade and Investment Forum in Taipei, Taiwan. With narration. This tape was sent from the General Director of China’s Board of Trade thanking Governor Quie for sending state representatives to the forum. 30 minutes in color on Betamax videotape.

WDSE-TV Channel 8 Duluth news program hosted by Glenn Maxham with Governor Quie as guest. Discussions about the recession, cutbacks in state government, natural resources, welfare, tourism, and income taxes. Quie notes his time in Washington, DC as a legislator working on education legislation. He also touches on his personal background and his plans for a trip to Norway. ORAL HISTORY INTERVIEW AUDIO CASSETTE RECORDINGS AND TRANSCRIPTS, 1979, 1982-1983

In 1982-1983, Mark Haidet and Hyman Berman, for the Minnesota Historical Society, conducted a series of interviews with Quie and select members of his administration mainly following his departure from office. There is also a transcript of an interview done with Quie by The Media Loft in 1979.
