HISTORICAL NOTE
The St. Paul-Ramsey County Nutrition Program is a joint activity of the Ramsey County Health Department and the City of St. Paul Department of Community Services, Division of Public Health. Its objectives are to develop and deliver nutrition services through screening, referral and monitoring in order to reduce the incidence of malnutrition; to provide food through supplemental food programs for women, infants and children determined to be at risk; to establish a system that will identify persons and/or families eligible but not participating in existing food, nutrition and health services; to develop a program using community health nutrition assistants to conduct elements of nutrition delivery systems; to establish an ongoing surveillance of the community to analyze and evaluate the health and nutritional status of the community for program planning and development; and to provide training in nutrition to health services aides and professionals.
