| Each entry in the index gives the applicant's surname and given name; the date (month, day, year) of the naturalization paper; the volume and page containing the document; and, occasionally, remarks. Beginning in 1908 the remarks column in the final papers and petitions section includes the certificate of naturalization number. | |||||||||||||
| The index is divided into two separate sections: Declarations of Intention; and Final Papers and Petition and Record. The names in each section of the index are grouped alphabetically by the first letter of the applicants' surnames.
