DETAILED DESCRIPTION
These volumes are essentially registers of civil actions, although some criminal actions are included.
For criminal actions between 1900 and 1933, these volumes may contain the only extant register entries.
These volumes were numbered sequentially by the court administrator for microfilming purposes. The original volume
letter identifications added in brackets were found on interior pages or were deduced from internal evidence.
The letter designation [A-L] and page number of each volume was used by Chisago County as the district court case file number
(e.g. Case File 1A would correspond to the register entry on page 1 of volume A). Case files (1858-1949), cataloged separately,
are covered by a portion of this series.
The volumes are dated by the filing date of the inclusive cases; some entries contain dates substantially later than the filing date.
All volumes contain indexes, arranged alphabetically by first letter of plaintiff’s surname/corporate name.

The register entry for each case includes name of accused, crime, defendant’s attorney,
and a list of the documents filed in each case. Volumes B and C frequently include a restatement of the sentence or judgment, if the defendant were convicted.
All volumes include indexes.
It appears that no separate register of criminal actions was created for the years 1900 through 1933; criminal register entries are likely to be found in the register of civil actions, above.
