Each entry gives case number; names of plaintiff and defendant; type of action; term commenced (often not filled in); volume and page citation to the register of actions; and, as pertinent, citation to "Record Book," term disposed of, judgment date, judgment book citation, amount of judgment, fee book citation, and date satisfied. The register of actions is the only citation that is consistently noted.

SCOPE AND CONTENTS

The index appears to cover only civil cases. A few criminal cases are noted, but have been crossed out.

Indexing practices vary. County, city, and township offices may be under the office (e.g., Treasurer, Supervisors), an official's name, or name of the jurisdiction. A number of corporate names, especially banks, are indexed under "The." Other entries noted: "County of," "City of," "Town of," "Board of," "Trustees," "Bank of," both "Minnesota, State of" and "State of Minnesota," "Railway Co.," and "In the matter of" (especially where there was a court proceeding with no actual plaintiff).

ARRANGEMENT

In 3 series, each comprising a plaintiffs' index and a defendants' index for a span of years. Index entries are alphabetical by first letter of surname, and roughly chronological thereunder. The volumes were numbered by the court administrator for microfilming purposes.
