The board, commission and task force files contain minutes, correspondence, internal memos, and related papers detailing the department's involvement in a variety of boards, commissions and task forces. The files cover such topics as energy, environment, health, industry, marketing, technology, agriculture, state-local relations, and sports. Particularly highlighted are the Council of Great Lakes Governors, Jobs and Economic Development Subcabinet, Minnesota High Technology Council, Minnesota Technology Corridor Corporation, Minnesota Wellspring, and Governor's Rural Development Council.

The division files concern the operation and activities of each of the divisions: administrative, business development, community development, economic development, energy finance, financial management, fiscal services, Minnesota Trade Office, policy analysis office, science and technology office, and tourism office.

The subject files include correspondence, activity reports, minutes, and related materials covering such diverse topics as agriculture, sports, business, community development, finance, information planning systems, tourism, emergency employment, high technology, and motion pictures.
